HORUS - No.144 ACC Patch

When No. 1 Air Control Centre (1ACC) was disbanded, the RAF lost its only deployable air defence radar unit… or so they thought. Fast forward, and 144 Signals Unit’s Expeditionary Radar and Airfield Squadron (ERAS) has quietly stepped into the role — same job, different name.

This patch tells the story in true RAF style: the 144SU owl chasing off the old 1ACC falcon, a nod to the ‘golden days’ of T101 and TACC deployments that many here remember fondly. It’s a light-hearted salute to the past and a wink at the present.

To all the ex-1ACC crew now wearing the 144 badge — here’s to keeping the radar turning, even if the title’s changed.
